Data sources

Last updated: 2026-09-11

The OnMacros food catalog combines several public food composition databases. Every row keeps its source recorded, and the nutrition values you see come from those sources rather than from us.

Food composition databases

  • USDA FoodData Central, Public domain. See fdc.nal.usda.gov.
  • Open Food Facts, ODbL, contents under the Database Contents Licence. See openfoodfacts.org. The data is released under the Open Database Licence (ODbL, licence text) and its contents under the Database Contents Licence.

Foods added by people

Foods that you and other people add to the app. New foods are private by default. You can review, edit and delete the foods you added in My foods.

How we use this data

Rows from these sources are served inside the app to the account that requested them. We do not redistribute the underlying databases. Each row remains identifiable by its source, so it can be removed on request.
